Privacy
What we store about you
- No accounts. There is nothing to sign up for.
- Votes and cheers. When you vote or cheer, your browser gets one cookie,
sgdev: a random ID, signed so it can't be forged, kept for 400 days, so you can't vote twice. We store your pick with that ID and your IP address only as salted one-way hashes, never the raw ID or IP. Nothing else. - Analytics. We don't run analytics yet. When we do, it will be Cloudflare Web Analytics, which sets no cookies and collects no personal data.
- In your browser only. Your light or dark theme and the picks you made, so the page can show "Your pick". We never see these.
- Serving the site. Cloudflare handles every request, as for any site it hosts, and keeps short-lived service logs to run it. We never copy IP addresses into our own data: only the salted hashes above.
Where the data comes from
- Ratings, ranks, titles, federations and birth years: FIDE's published rating lists.
- Live results: official broadcasts on Lichess, and results entered by hand from the organisers' sites, each labelled. Never moves.
- Exact birth dates for ages: Wikidata (CC0). Online ratings: Lichess and Chess.com leaderboards.
SuperGM publishes nothing about a player that these sources don't already publish. See About.
Ask for something to be removed
We can remove what SuperGM adds: a player's profile, cards, search entry or exact birth date. We can't change FIDE's own data: ask FIDE for that. We answer every request at the address you give, use it for nothing else, and erase it once the request is closed.
